Common questions
Where do the planting dates come from?
From the frost dates of the NOAA weather station nearest the ZIP code you typed (1991–2020 normals), or from two dates you set yourself. They are averages: about half of past years had frost after the spring date. Check the forecast before planting out.
I'm not in the United States. Does it still work?
Yes, with one difference: the station table is NOAA's and covers the United States, and the ZIP field takes five digits. Everywhere else you type your last and first frost date once, and every planting window, reminder and harvest estimate is calculated from those. Beds, crops, spacing, companions and the journal are the same.
Does the ZIP leave my phone?
Apple's geocoder looks it up once to find your area. It is stored only on your phone and never sent to us or anyone else. Rowbed has no account and no location permission.
Where is my data?
On your phone. Settings › Your data lets you save a backup file and restore it on a new phone.
What does Rowbed Pro include, and how do I cancel?
Reminders, the journal with photos, next-season rotation warnings and CSV export. Beds, plants, planting dates, companion warnings, reading everything already in your journal, and backups are free. Cancel a monthly or yearly subscription any time in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions; Apple handles refunds under its own policy, without prejudice to your statutory rights.
